Top 10 Must-Haves for Your Baby Registry
Creating a baby registry can feel overwhelming, but it's a helpful tool to ensure you have the essentials for your little one's arrival. To make things easier, here are 10 must-have items to consider adding to your list:
- Swaddle Blankets: These are essential for keeping your newborn warm and secure. Look for soft, breathable fabrics like muslin or cotton. I find muslin blankets to be the most universal thing for new moms. They act as carseat covers, nursing covers, swaddles, burp cloths, and will even work in a pinch as a changing pad.
- Diapers and Wipes: You'll go through a LOT of these! Stock up on newborn and size 1's to start with. I prefer Huggies Natural unscented wipes, as my boys both had sensitive skin.
- Baby Carrier: A comfortable carrier allows you to keep your baby close while having your hands free. I really loved my wrap, and my Infantino 4-in-1. It lived in my car for whenever we'd go out, until my boys sized out of it.
- White Noise Machine: White noise can help soothe your baby and promote better sleep. These don't have to be fancy, but there are ones like the Hatch, that offer a nightlight/white noise combo machine.
- Changing Pad: A changing pad makes diaper changes easier, giving you a clean, soft place to lay your baby. I like the quilted variety.
- High-Quality Pacifiers: Pacifiers can be a lifesaver for some babies. Choose ones that are orthodontic and made from safe materials. They even have some that glow in the dark!
- Bath Tub and Towels: A soft, hooded towel and a gentle baby bath tub are essential for bath time. I also really like having extras of the sponges the hospital gives you, for washing baby. You can find them in packs of 3 on Amazon.
- Books: Reading to your baby from day one is a wonderful way to bond. Include a variety of board books and cloth books in your registry. They make for wonderful gifts at your baby shower!
- Play Gym: A play gym provides a stimulating environment for your baby to explore and develop. Look for one with high contrast, mirrors, and music.
- Baby Monitor: A video or audio monitor can provide peace of mind, especially when your baby is sleeping in a different room. I prefer the bluetooth ones that do not connect to wifi, for safety.
Remember, this is just a starting point. Customize your registry to fit your needs and preferences. Don't hesitate to add items that you think will be most helpful for you and your family, even if baby is already here!
Happy registering, and don't forget to book your maternity and newborn photos asap!
